MDWA Art. & dining in Gdansk received the status of White Star in the international guide Star Wine List. This is an important accolade for a restaurant that has been combining auteur cuisine, art, wine and hospitality since its inception.
Star Wine List is a guide to places valued by wine lovers. The White Star distinction means that MDWA's wine list has been noticed and appreciated by the guide's experts. For us, this is a special moment. Wine at MDWA is not an accompaniment to dinner. It is part of the whole experience. It accompanies the tasting menu and helps to reveal further layers of flavour.
The MDWA sommelier team is behind the wine list. It is led by Michał Gałązka, Head Sommelier. Together with his team, he creates a wine selection - the Cheerful Charter - that fits the character of the restaurant. Quality is important, but also emotion, harmony and conversation with the guest.
Pairing at MDWA is built with great care. The wine is supposed to accentuate the dish. It can bring out its freshness, acidity, depth or minerality. It should not dominate the cuisine. It should complement it.
